The Canadian Experience Class (CEC) immigration program allows individuals who have worked for at least one year in Canada to stay in the country and have the option for permanent residency. It is part of the Express Entry immigration system that selects new immigrants to Canada.
What is Express Entry?
Express Entry system provides a quick and relatively easy way for qualified individuals who are part of the pool of talents already working in Canada to become permanent residents. The system allows Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to invite eligible candidates to apply for permanent residence.
These candidates should have submitted a formal expression of interest through the creation of their online Express Entry profile. The profiles of eligible candidates are accepted to the Express Entry pool. Based on the personal information provided by the candidates, they are given a score and ranked against each other using the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS).
The Express Entry pool also includes candidates under two other immigration programs, the Federal Skilled Worker Class (FSWC) and Federal Skilled Trades Class (FSTC).
Who is eligible for the Canadian Experience Class (CEC)?
Canada’s temporary foreign workers and international graduates who wish to become Permanent Residents may be eligible for permanent residency under the CEC. These individuals have settled into Canadian society for having obtained Canadian work experience and/or Canadian education.
